The duties of the DCM (District Committee Member) are as follows:
- Be responsible for bringing information from the Area to the District, as well as relaying the District’s information and opinions to the Area.
- Notify the Area Chairperson and Secretary, in writing, of the name, address, telephone numbers, and group affiliation of all new Group Service Representatives (GSRs) and alternate GSRs, as well as the name, address, and telephone numbers of the new DCM and Alternate DCM after elections occur.
- Chair the monthly District Committee Meeting.
- Provide the AA Service Manual information and pertinent resources to the GSRs.
- Make a regular practice of talking to home groups on the responsibilities of general service work.
- Oversee elections of Chairpersons for the Service Committees, subject to approval by the District Committee.
- Prepare in cooperation with the District Treasurer, an annual budget to be presented at the February meeting of the District Committee.
- Serve a two-year term consecutive to the two-year service rotation of Area 38 officers, with elections in the fall of every even-numbered year, beginning their official term in January of the following odd-numbered years.
- Prepare and distribute District 14 meeting agendas for each upcoming Committee Meeting.
- Attend each of the four Area Assemblies held by EAMO Area 38, held in locations throughout the area, at the expense of the district as identified in the expense reimbursement guidelines.
